Daniel McLeish

Manager – Investigations

Daniel is a Chartered Professional Engineer with 18 years of structural engineering and project management experience both in Australia and the Middle East. He joined Sterling in January of 2022, as a Senior Structural Engineer in the Engineering and Asset Management Team, and has since been promoted to Manager of the Investigations Team.

Daniel’s breadth of experience in structural engineering and asset management extends across a wide variety of disciplines, including buildings, maritime structures, bridges and rail infrastructure. His interdisciplinary experience provides a unique perspective which assists clients in early detection and mitigation of latent project risk.

Daniel brings a passion for providing creative and practical solutions to engineering problems, and thrives on collaborating with the Team and our clients to deliver bespoke, quality solutions which frequently challenge the status quo.

Recent project highlights include, ‘Optioneering’ and feasibility studies of challenging structural assets encumbered by competing needs from different stakeholders, including Rail Operators, government bodies, Heritage Vic, Municipal Councils and the Victorian Building Authority.

Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, CPEng, is an Accell Accredited inspector of steel bridges, is IRATA qualified in ropes access, and holds appropriate training to safely enter Confined Spaces and to Work from Heights.
