Hugh Nairn

With over 30 years’ experience in marketing, market research, communication and advertising, Hugh joined Sterling group in an advisory capacity in 2021. Hugh has worked across major brand launches, and some of the most successful communication strategies in Australia, Europe, Asia and the USA.

Over his career he has worked with some of the world’s largest brands as well as smaller local enterprises. He has been managing director at Belgiovane Williams McKay, GM of DDB / Rapp Collins and a Melbourne Board Member of Clemenger BBDO. Most recently he was one of the two owners of Big Red, one of Australia’s largest privately owned communication groups.

Hugh specialises in innovative communication solutions and combines traditional thinking with current technology and an understanding of the increasing fragmented media space.

Kieran Condron

Kieran Condron is a recognised leader in the delivery of rail infrastructure projects in Australia, with deep industry knowledge and project management expertise. For the past 15 years, Kieran has worked on major rail infrastructure projects across Central Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria; managing projects with clients including Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), ARTC, GHD, KBR, Jacobs, John Holland, McDonnell Dowell, Queensland Rail, SMEC, VicTrack and Yarra Trams.

Kieran has a track record in project planning, contract management, and transportation. He has a deep understanding of operational systems, engineering, infrastructure construction and management. As the founding Managing Director of ActivateRail, Kieran has assembled a strong team to support the growth of the business. His passion for setting a culture of safety first and delivering for the client has positioned ActivateRail as a leading supplier to the rail industry.

Kieran has a Post Graduate Diploma of Infrastructure Engineering & Management (Monash University) and a Bachelor of Engineering (RMIT University).

Matthew Sampson

Matt has been working in an advisory capacity with the Condron Family Group since 2018 and delivers the Leadership Academy – an annual program that supports the development of the organisation’s emerging leaders.

With over 15 years’ experience working with organisations within the engineering, architecture and construction industries, Matt’s passion and expertise lies in attracting, engaging and developing talent within those organisations, so that individual and collective goals can be reached. Matt owns and operates a specialist recruitment firm based in Melbourne and also sits as a director on the board for the Recruitment Consulting & Staffing Association (RCSA).

Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Paul Nissen

Paul is a member of Sterling’s advisory board and the group accountant. He assisted with advice on the initial purchase of the business and has been the groups accountant from its acquisition. Since joining the advisory board at its inception, Paul has witnessed the growth and diversification over its lifetime.

Having semiretired, Paul maintains a small group of private clients that he provides Taxation services and business advice to. He has been in practice for over 40 years and has worked at numerous accounting practices. Paul has spent many years teaching management and financial accounting at TAFE Colleges and Universities and was also a General Manager of a building company.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Education from State College of Victoria Hawthorn.

Ryan Condron

Ryan is currently managing business systems for the group and is also is a part owner and former Managing Director of Sterling Infrastructure.
Prior to joining Sterling and the Rail Industry in 2010, Ryan’s spent 15 years in manufacturing where he led and managed large numbers of people in all facets of an organisation encompassing operations, projects, engineering, supply chain, and marketing.

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mech) from RMIT and post graduate qualifications in Project Management (AIPM) as well as various rail industry and network competencies.

Susie Pascoe

Susie leads the broader organisation in her role as Group Managing Director and Executive Chair since 2018. Within the business she has held the roles as Director of Engineering and Asset Management, Director Consulting, and continues to act as the Managing Director of Gotrain. She leads the governance and strategic planning of the organisation and has a passion for building a values led culture and leading people to understand the why of what they do.

Susie had 20 years’ experience in large manufacturing companies and consulting firms before joining Sterling the group in 2009. She has led and managed large numbers of people in all facets of an organisation across all business disciplines. She has proven experience as a thought leader, project and program manager working in a number of different disciplines where she has demonstrated outstanding ability to deliver and successfully manage complex stakeholder environments.

Susie holds a Bachelor of Economics and Commerce degree, is a Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Accountants, holds an MBA (AGSM) and sits on a variety of small company and not for profit boards.

Suzanne Trimble

Suzanne is Director of Finance and Administration and holds responsibility for managing Shared Services. In this role she is responsible for the team providing financial, human resources, OHS, marketing and technology for the business.

Suzanne spent 15 years working for Big Four accounting firms. During this period, she worked in tax divisions in Australia and UK providing advice to multi-national corporations and undertaking secondments to client in-house tax teams. Suzanne also worked in business process consulting division before acting as tax knowledge specialist for the firm’s tax software area. Following this she moved into the not-for-profit sector and worked for an overseas relief agency as their Finance and Administration Manager.

Suzanne is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from RMIT.
