Sterling was engaged by Queensland Rail for two contracts along the recently upgraded Yeppoon Line to the local meat works facility in Nerimbera, East of Rockhampton.
The project involved the demolition of existing timber bridges, construction of large cell culverts and civil works to formations, allowing for a new siding at the cattle storage yards to be installed. The scope also included custom extensions to existing pipes along the same network and improvements to general formations and access areas in the corridor.
The project was delivered on time and to budget and was supervised by Queensland Rail engineers on site to ensure compliance with their standards and procedures. During some sections of the work Sterling rail specialists acted to support Queensland Rail in the most effective methodology and engineering to assist the more custom sections of the upgrade. This line is now fully completed with track installed by the client ready for operation and was funded by the Queensland Government.
